The Dance & Joy of the Butterfly

A dance of transformation.

I often work with symbols & visualisation in both my own practice and my teaching.

Currently, the butterfly has come into my life as a powerful symbol of change.

Change is inevitable at all stages of life and butterfly medicine teaches us that we need to allow the four stages of metamorphosis to unfold naturally.

Sometimes I have a tendency of being hard on myself for not being better (perfect) at my life, work, job, relationships – I can be my hardest critic, and impatient with my shadow.

Butterflies teach me to slow down and enjoy the dance of life – to realise that each stage of my growth & life journey is sacred and valuable – even when I am sad, lost or immersed in my perceived failure.

If you see a butterfly today, spend a few moments watching it's graceful journey through the eternal present moment.

Allow it’s light to rest in your heart, and acknowledge that you are in the right place, right now for transformation to unfold.

But, be patient with your own stages of growth:

  • Egg – an idea is born.

  • Larva – it is time to create in the physical world.

  • Cocoon - go within.

  • Finally, it is time to give birth.

And then to let go – and invite the cycle of life to once again take flight.

Today I take a long exhalation as I feel the dance of the butterfly move gently in my life.
