Prolonged stress can have a significant impact upon our emotional, psychological and physical well-being.

Stress can debilitate our immune system, thus predisposing us to all kinds of infections and chronic health issues, such as back problems & hormonal imbalances. It may even be linked to the development of serious life-threatening conditions such as cancer & cardiovascular disease, and cause us to increase our reliance on smoking and alcohol as ways of ‘winding down’.

And that’s not the all… ongoing stress can also exacerbate high blood pressure, inhibit digestion, increase muscular tension, and cause nutritional deficiencies, fatigue, memory loss, irritability, lowered sexual drive, and insomnia.

Stress builds up over time & it can be hard to diagnose (always visit a healthcare practitioner if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms). Most healthcare professionals now recognise that mindfulness, or some kind of other form of relaxation (such as yoga), compliments orthodox approaches to health.

In particular, mindfulness is recommended as a really effective tool for reducing many stress-related symptoms, such as headaches, anxiety & fatigue.

Unfortunately, – stress is not something that can be remedies by an occasional vacation, or day off at the beach.  This isn’t enough! If you are experiencing daily work-life pressures, or suffering with ongoing stressful situations, you really need to implement some kind of daily routine to help reduce the symptoms, & support the body’s natural ability to restore balance.

 

Regularly practicing mindful meditation can have a really positive impact on our general health & well-being. I refer to the practice as being the foundation upon which all other self-care practices are built.

It is the master-key that unlocks optimum health & well-being… it is the essential ingredient for creating a life of authentic happiness & fulfillment.

It is a place of peace, and a beacon of hope that shines forth from the eyes of the sitter.
